Calif. Man Alleges Injuries Caused by Defective Encore Hip System in New Lawsuit

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — In a new lawsuit filed in state court, a California man says he was left with a permanent limp after being implanted with a defective metal-on-metal hip system manufactured by Encore Medical L.P. d/b/a DJO Surgical.

In a June 12 complaint filed in the Riverside County (Calif.) Superior Court, the plaintiff contends that although the system has not been recalled, there have been numerous adverse event reports regarding failure or complications and resulting injury associated with the device.
