CHICAGO — A plaintiff accusing Smith & Nephew and Zimmer Inc. of defectively designing and manufacturing her artificial knee components has moved for relief from an Illinois federal judge’s dismissal of her complaint with prejudice.

In a June 19 motion filed before Judge Sharon Coleman of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, plaintiff Barbara Grzanecki argued that “there is ample reason to believe that any and all defects” in her second amended complaint can be cured upon amendment.
