N.Y. Federal Judge Awards Bayer Summary Judgment in Mirena MDL

NEW YORK — A New York federal judge has awarded Bayer summary judgment in the Mirena multidistrict litigation, ruling that the plaintiffs failed to prove that the birth control device caused them to develop idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH).

On June 11, Judge Paul A. Engelmayer of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York directed the court clerk to close all remaining cases in the MDL docket, ruling that the plaintiffs’ lay testimony does not establish medical causation.
