W. Va. Federal Judge Refuses to Overturn $1.25 Million Pradaxa Verdict

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. — A West Virginia federal judge has refused to disturb a $1.25 million verdict issued in favor of the family of a woman who died from gastrointestinal bleeding after taking Pradaxa, finding sufficient evidence that Boehringer Ingelheim fraudulently misrepresented the risks of its blood thinner.

On May 15, Judge Robert C. Chambers of the U.S. District Court for the District of West Virginia also denied BIPI’s motion for a new trial, noting the drug maker failed to object to the verdict before the jury was dismissed, as required by Federal Rule of Procedure 49(a).
