Bard Prevails in 4th Bellwether IVC Filter Case at Conclusion of Trial




PHOENIX — An Arizona federal jury has found in favor of C.R. Bard on claims of negligence and design defect in the fourth bellwether IVC filter injury case at the conclusion of a 14-day trial.

The jury, sitting in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona, issued the verdict on Oct. 5. Senior Judge David Campbell presided over the trial, which began on Sept. 18.

Wisconsin resident Lisa Hyde received a Bard IVC filter implant in 2011. In 2014, she learned that the filter had tilted, perforated the IVC wall, and fractured. The filter and fractured limbs were …
