WASHINGTON - Attorneys representing plaintiffs in nine OxyContin-related personal injury suits have submitted a petition to the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (JPML) to consolidate and transfer the cases for discovery and pretrial proceedings. In re: OxyContin Products Liability Litigation, MDL Docket No. 1526 (J.P.M.L).
The petition seeks to centralize currently pending cases in the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina. The plaintiffs proposing consolidation are each involved in cases proceeding through federal court in South Carolina and contend that at least four other cases are also pending in the same jurisdiction.
