Makers of Generic Valsartan Drugs Hit with Class Action in N.J. Federal Court

NEW YORK — A Texas man has filed a class action against the makers of generic valsartan-containing drugs, alleging they knew or should have known their products became contaminated with a carcinogen during the manufacturing process, yet continued to sell them in the United States.

The complaint, filed on Aug. 31 in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, says the medications were contaminated with NDMA, which can cause liver cancer.
