Tysabri Makers Awarded Summary Judgment on Warning Claims in N.J. Federal Action

TRENTON, N.J. — A New Jersey federal judge has awarded summary judgment to the makers of multiple sclerosis drug Tysabri, finding they adequately warned that patients taking the drug could develop a potentially fatal brain disease.

On April 25, Judge John M. Vazquez of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey further held that the plaintiff’s claims are preempted because the drug makers were barred by federal law from making changes to the label.
