Experts Truman, Kantor May Opine As to Safety of Metal-On-Metal Devices in M2a Hip MDL, Judge Rules

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The judge overseeing the Biomet M2a Hip MDL has ruled that plaintiffs’ experts Mari Truman and Dr. George S. Kantor may offer opinions as to the safety of metal-on-metal hip devices in general and the adequacy of Zimmer Biomet’s warnings.

However, in the Dec. 21 opinion, Judge Robert L. Miller Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana held that Dr. Kantor may not testify as to the risks associated with Biomet’s metal-on-metal devices in particular, finding he did not consider sufficient data in developing his opinion.
