N.J. Jury Awards $15 Million to Plaintiffs in Prolift, TVT-O Transvaginal Mesh Case




HACKENSACK, N.J. — A New Jersey jury has awarded plaintiffs $15 million in a transvaginal mesh action, finding that Ethicon Inc. and its parent Johnson & Johnson defectively designed their Prolift device and inadequately warned surgeons of the risks posed by both their Prolift and TVT-O devices.

On Dec. 14, the Bergen County Superior Court jury awarded Elizabeth Hrymoc and her husband $5 million in compensatory damages and $10 million in punitive damages. Judge Rachelle Harz presided over the three-week trial, which began on Nov. 27.
