Oklahoma High Court Denies Review of $2.5 Million Judgment in DePuy ASR Hip Case

TULSA, Okla. — The Oklahoma Supreme Court has let stand a $2.5 million jury verdict issued to an Oklahoma woman who had DePuy ASR XL Acetabular systems removed from both hips less than five years after they were implanted.

On Sept. 25, the high court denied DePuy’s petition to review an appellate court ruling upholding judgment entered in favor of the plaintiff following the verdict. The appellate court found the evidence presented at trial supported the plaintiff’s claim that the hip replacement was defectively designed and that the defects caused her injuries.
