One Action Remaining in Eliquis MDL Following Dismissal of 20 Actions

NEW YORK — The judge overseeing the Eliquis multidistrict litigation has dismissed all but one of the actions accusing Pfizer Inc. and Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. of failing to warn of the risks posed by the blood thinning drug, ruling that the claims are preempted and fail to meet federal pleading standards.

In a July 26 order, Judge Denise Cote of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York set forth her reasons for dismissing plaintiff Sheila Fortner’s failure-to-warn and design defect claims. On the basis of that ruling, the clerk of court dismissed 19 other pending cases …
