photo-4Preliminary Results Reveal Prempro May Worsen Cognitive Function
Women ages 65 or over who use estrogen plus progestin therapies may be at an increased risk of memory loss and decreased cognitive function, according to the preliminary results of the Women's Health Initiative Memory Study (WHIMS).
Wyeth, the manufacturer of Prempro and Premarin, received two manuscripts of data to review on Feb. 28. The preliminary results contrast the results of previous studies that suggested estrogen plus progestin therapies could have a beneficial effect on memory and cognition.
