FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A Florida woman who claims she developed liver tumors after prolonged use of the Seasonale and Seasonique has sued the manufacturer of the oral contraceptives, claiming the company failed to warn of a significant risk of tumors associated with the drugs.

Michelle Smith alleges in a lawsuit filed May 26 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida that defendant Teva Pharmaceuticals was aware of a nearly 25-fold increased risk of hepatic adenomas among long-term users of Seasonale and Seasonique.
