Bayer Prevails in Aleve Kidney Injury Action After Judge Excludes Experts’ Causation Testimony

BENTON, Ill. — An Illinois federal judge awarded Bayer Corp. summary judgment in an Aleve kidney disease action after excluding the causation testimony of the plaintiffs’ experts, finding no evidence that Aleve’s design proximately caused the alleged injuries.

On April 20, Judge J. Phil Gilbert of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois said the plaintiffs only established a temporal relationship between the ingestion of Aleve and kidney disease.
