CHICAGO — An Illinois federal judge has denied GlaxoSmithKline’s motion for judgment as a matter of law in an action in which a law firm partner committed suicide after ingesting generic Paxil.
Judge James B. Zagel denied the motion on April 4, which was filed after the plaintiff’s counsel made her closing statements in a trial that began on March 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
GSK is accused of failing to adequately warn the decedent’s physician about Paxil’s increased risk of suicidal behavior in adults of all ages.
