KANSAS CITY — A Missouri federal judge has refused to dismiss a lawsuit accusing the makers of proton pump inhibitors of failing to warn of the risk of chronic kidney disease posed by their drugs, ruling that the claims were adequately pled.

In a March 22 order, Judge Ortrie D. Smith of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri said the plaintiff sufficiently alleged that his prescribing physician was unaware of the drugs’ risks and pled his fraud claims with the requisite particularity.
