SAN DIEGO — The manufacturers of the Alere INRatio blood monitoring system have been sued in California court for allegedly failing to warn consumers and health care providers that the device yielded inaccurate results, which in some cases led to serious injury or death.
Eight plaintiffs filed the complaint on Feb. 27 in the San Diego County Superior Court against Alere Inc., Alere Home Monitoring Inc., and Alere San Diego Inc., alleging they sustained injuries and were hospitalized after relying on erroneous INR readings produced by the Alere blood monitoring system.
