BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A Connecticut federal judge awarded GlaxoSmithKline summary judgment in a Paxil birth defect action after excluding the general causation testimony of the plaintiff’s expert who, according to the judge, improperly assumed that the plaintiff took the antidepressant during her first trimester
In a Feb. 1 order, Judge Victor Bolden of the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut further held that Dr. William Revekes’ opinions are inadmissible because he failed to account for seven meta-analyses on the relationship between Paxil and birth defects, thereby rendering his review of the evidence incomplete.
