LOS ANGELES – A California federal court has granted a motion to consolidate two Wright Medical Profemur Total Hip System cases for all purposes, including trial, rejecting the defendants’ position that they would be prejudiced by litigating the cases together.

In the Jan. 9 order, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California opined after weighing the risks of confusion, delay, and prejudice against the likely conservation of judicial resources, it had determined that the factors weighed in favor of consolidation.

Sources told HarrisMartin that the cases are scheduled to be tried Dec. 5, 2017.
