Mo. Federal Judge Allows Presentation of Causation Expert Testimony in Mirena IIH Actions
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A Missouri federal judge has denied Bayer’s motion to exclude the testimony of four causation experts in three actions in which plaintiffs allege the Mirena birth control device caused them to develop idiopathic intercranial hypertension (IIH), ruling that the experts are qualified to provide such testimony.
In orders issued Dec. 20, Judge Stephen R. Bough of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri explained that the experts, while they are not epidemiologists, are qualified to offer epidemiological opinions because they …
