Louisiana Court Stays Biomet Hip Implant Case Pending MDL Transfer over Plaintiff Opposition

NEW ORLEANS –– A Louisiana court has granted a motion for a temporary stay in a hip implant action, saying that it is “routine” for federal courts to stay cases pending transfer to a multidistrict litigation.
In the Aug. 17 order, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana said that the plaintiffs had failed to establish how a stay pending transfer might cause them undue prejudice.
