Fla. Woman Says Invokana Makers Failed to Warn of Diabetic Ketoacidosis, Other Injuries

TRENTON, N.J. — A Florida woman has sued the makers of Invokana in New Jersey federal court, accusing them of failing to warn patients and doctors that the type 2 diabetes drug can cause diabetic ketoacidosis despite being aware that the drug’s harmful side effects outweigh any potential benefits.
In a July 5 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, the plaintiff says defendants aggressively marketed the drug to health care providers and consumers while misrepresenting the risk of serious and potential life threatening injuries.
