NEW YORK — A Tennessee man has sued AstraZeneca, accusing it of failing to warn doctors and consumers that the long-term use of Nexium can cause acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease while touting the drug as safe and effective.

The July 5 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee says AstraZeneca marketed Nexium as a safe drug without performing adequate testing that would have revealed the drug’s serious potential side effects.
