NEW YORK — An Idaho man has sued the makers of Nexium and Prevacid in New York federal court, accusing them of failing to warn consumers and healthcare providers that long-term use of the proton pump inhibitor drugs can cause kidney injury.
The June 10 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York says the defendants were aware of studies linking PPI use to acute kidney injury, yet failed to include such warnings on the drugs’ labels.
