SAN FRANCISCO — A California woman has sued Bayer Corp. in connection with its Essure permanent birth control device, accusing it of failing to warn about serious health risks while misrepresenting its safety and efficacy to doctors and patients in marketing materials.

In a complaint removed to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California on June 16, Norma Scott alleges she was implanted with a defective and unreasonably dangerous Essure device, which caused her to sustain personal injuries.
