Bayer's Motion to Dismiss PPA Claims Unopposed by Ga. Plaintiff

ATLANTA - Bayer Pharmaceuticals' motion to dismiss was unopposed by a Georgia woman who claimed that over-the-counter cold medications containing PPA caused her hemorrhagic stroke. Thompson v. Bayer Corporation, et al. No. 1:05-cv-1065 (N.D. Ga.).
Plaintiff Gertrude Thompson suffered a hemorrhagic stroke in January 2001, which she blamed on PPA (phenylpropanolamine) in the over-the-counter cold medications manufactured and distributed by the defendants, Bayer Pharmaceuticals, Bayer Corp., Perrigo Co., The Kroger Co. and others.
Thompson said she consumed Bayer's Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold Medicine and Alka-Seltzer Plus Night-Time Cold Medicine, as well as Di-Bromm Elixar, which is manufactured and distributed by …
