EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. — In a new lawsuit filed against AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, an Illinois man says his continued use of Nexium caused him to suffer kidney failure, necessitating a kidney transplant.
In a May 3 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois, the plaintiff says AstraZeneca knew that Nexium causes a significantly increased risk of chronic kidney disease and acute kidney injuries, yet failed to warn consumer or healthcare providers of those risks.
