Four New La. Lawsuits Accuse Eliquis Makers of Hiding Risk of Life-Threatening Bleeding

NEW ORLEANS — Four individuals have sued Bristol-Myers Squibb and Pfizer in three Louisiana federal courts, accusing the drug makers of failing to warn doctors and the public that their anticoagulant Eliquis can cause uncontrollable bleeding for which there is no antidote.
In complaints filed in the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana, plaintiffs Lee Huffman, Maurice Jackson, Larry McGuffee and Wright Williams further allege that the drug makers failed to adequately test the drug before seeking approval from the Food and Drug Administration and misrepresented its safety in direct-to-consumer marketing materials.
