BENTON, Ill. — An Illinois couple have sued Bayer in connection with its Essure birth control device, accusing it of misrepresenting the safety and efficacy of the device.
In an April 5 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois, Marybeth Brown alleges she was implanted with a defective and unreasonably Essure device, which caused her to sustain personal injuries.
Bayer designed the Essure device to insert a metal coil known as a “micro-insert” into each of a patient’s fallopian tubes. Once released, the micro-inserts expand and anchor themselves into the fallopian tubes, and …
