MDL Court Overseeing NexGen Knee Implant Docket Issues Bellwether Selection Order

CHICAGO –– The Illinois federal court overseeing the national coordinated docket for claims relating to Zimmer’s NexGen Knee Implant has issued selected four cases for upcoming trials, with the first involving a cemented LPS-Flex femoral implant.

In the March 11 order, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois also scheduled claims relating to the cemented CR-Flex 5750 and MIS tibial 5950, the Flex NexGen knee replacement, and the LPS-Flex femoral component for trial.

The court noted that the plaintiffs’ steering committee and attorneys for the defendants had submitted briefing concerning the cases “appropriate for bellwether treatment.”
