Hawaii Woman Sues Makers of Eliquis, Says Husband's Death Caused by Uncontrollable Hemorrhage

HONOLULU — The widow of a man who died after allegedly taking the anticoagulant Eliquis has sued Bristol-Myers Squibb and Pfizer in Hawaii federal court, accusing the drug makers of failing to warn that in the event of blood hemorrhages, there is no antidote to the drug.

The Dec. 15 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Hawaii says that despite life-threatening bleeding findings in a clinical trial, the drug makers failed to adequately test Eliquis before seeking approval from the Food and Drug Administration.
