Plaintiffs Ask JPML to Create Federal Docket in Calif. for Viagra Melanoma Lawsuits

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Plaintiffs have asked the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation to create a federal docket for lawsuits alleging a link between Viagra and melanoma cell invasion in a California federal court for coordinated or consolidated pretrial proceedings.
According to the Dec. 11 petition, there are 15 lawsuits pending against Pfizer in several different federal jurisdictions, all making similar claims and allegations, and plaintiffs anticipate that many more will be filed. They assert that consolidation would promote judicial economy and consistency in rulings, and is warranted because each of the actions assert virtually identical claims against Pfizer Inc.
