Jury Finds for Zimmer at Conclusion of First NexGen Knee Implant MDL Case

CHICAGO –– An Illinois federal jury has reached a defense verdict in favor of Zimmer Inc. at the conclusion of the first NexGen Knee Implant MDL case to proceed to trial, HarrisMartin Publishing is reporting.

The jury reached the verdict moments ago after a three-and-a-half week trial that began Oct. 13 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Hon. Rebecca R. Pallmeyer presided over the trial.

Bellwether plaintiff Kathy Batty alleged in her complaint that she underwent total knee replacements on both knees in April 2009 in effort to help her degenerative joint disease. Her …
