Trial Begins in California Bellwether Cymbalta Withdrawal Action




LOS ANGELES — Trial in a California bellwether Cymbalta withdrawal case began Aug. 4, in which plaintiff Claudia Herrera alleges she suffered multiple injuries as a result of ingesting the SSRI and attempting to stop the drug.

Judge Stephen V. Wilson of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California is overseeing the trial.

In June, the judge denied Eli Lilly’s motion for summary judgment, noting Herrera has submitted allegedly new evidence that raises questions as to whether Lilly deliberately designed Cymbalta’s clinical trials in a way calculated to under-report the risk of discontinuation symptoms.
