SHREVEPORT, La - A Louisiana woman recently filed a second lawsuit against the manufacturer of products containing PPA, claiming that the drug company is liable for injuries she allegedly sustained as a result of using the over-the-counter decongestants. Linda Van Greene v. GlaxoSmithKline, No. CV-02-2669 (W.D. La.).
GlaxoSmithKline, the manufacturer of Contact, knew that the product could increase the risk of heart attacks but fraudulently concealed this information from consumers, the suit alleges. Plaintiff Linda Van Greene claims that the drug company is liable for damages under the Louisiana Products Liability Act (LPLA), negligence and breach of warranty.
