Calif. Jury Awards $4.5 Million in Case Involving Wright’s Profemur R Hip Implant




LOS ANGELES –– A California jury has awarded $4.5 million to a plaintiff who contended that Wright Medical Technology Inc.’s Profemur Hip Implant was defective.

The California Superior Court for Los Angeles County jury reached the verdict on June 11, according to published reports. Jurors determined that while the implant was defective, Wright was not negligent in designing the device.

Jurors reached its 9-3 decision after two weeks of trial.

The jury’s award included $4 million for past and future pain and suffering and an additional $500,000 for Alan Warner’s wife’s loss of consortium claim.
