Nexium Injury Action to Proceed Against AstraZeneca in Louisiana Federal Court

BATON ROUGE, La. — A Louisiana federal judge has refused to dismiss a Nexium injury action filed against AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, ruling that the plaintiffs have sufficiently stated a claim under the state product liability act.

On April 28, Chief Judge Brian A. Jackson of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana found that plaintiffs have sufficiently alleged that Nexium is unreasonably dangerous and that AstraZeneca failed to adequately warn them and their prescribing doctor of the risks.
