Wis. Court Grants Wright Medical Group’s Motion to Dismiss Hip Implant Case for Lack of Personal Jurisdiction

MADISON, Wis. –– A Wisconsin federal court has declined to exercise personal jurisdiction over Wright Medical Group Inc., saying that the plaintiff has not established a colorable showing that the defendant handled the manufacture or distribution of the allegedly defective hip implant.

In the March 30 order, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin granted the defendant’s motion to dismiss for lack of personal jurisdiction, concluding that the plaintiff had failed to “offer any evidence or argument demonstrating that an agency relationship existed between” the defendant and any subsidiary that manufactured the hip implant.
