Calif. Man Accuses Olympus of Selling Medical Scopes Prone to Contamination

LOS ANGELES — A California man has sued Olympus Corp., accusing it of negligently and fraudulently selling medical scopes that are prone to contamination without providing an effective cleaning protocol, thereby spreading deadly bacteria among patients exposed to the devices.
The plaintiff, whose name has been redacted from the complaint, says he was exposed to a contaminated Olympus Q180V Duodenoscope while undergoing medical procedures at the UCLA Ronald Regan Medical Center in October and January and has suffered significant injury as a result.
