DePuy Moves to Dismiss ASR Hip MDL Part A, Notes Award is Funded

CLEVELAND — DePuy Orthopaedics Inc. has filed an unopposed motion to dismiss the ASR hip implant multidistrict litigation Part A with prejudice, noting that the Part A base award has been fully funded to the appropriate escrow account.

DePuy notes that its Jan. 27 motion, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, is unopposed by plaintiffs.

On Nov. 19, 2013, Johnson & Johnson agreed to pay $2.5 billion to settle an estimated 8,000 ASR XL and Resurfacing hip implant lawsuits brought against its subsidiary, DePuy. The settlement resolved the claims of eligible people who were …
