C.R. Bard Settles Nevada Defective IVC Filter Case 6 Days Into Trial

RENO, Nev. — A Nevada lawsuit accusing C.R. Bard Inc. of defectively designing and manufacturing its inferior vena cava filter and failing to adequately warn of the device’s risks has settled six days into trial.

According to a Feb. 9 order issued by Judge Robert C. Jones of the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada, Bard and plaintiff Kevin Phillips have reached a confidential settlement agreement.

Phillips was implanted with a Bard Recovery Filter System in August 2005 in order to catch blood clots or “thrombi” traveling from the lower portions of his body toward his heart and …
