FRESNO, Calif. — A California woman is suing the maker of a bipolar morcellator that was used during her laparoscopic hysterectomy, alleging it caused her to develop several cancerous tumors in her abdomen.
In an Oct. 9 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California, Nielsen says Gyrus ACMI LP failed to warn her surgeon that the Gyrus Power Morcellator, which was used to remove tissue, could disseminate cancer throughout her body.
