DETROIT — A Missouri woman is suing Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals Inc., alleging that it failed to warn doctors and consumers that its weight loss supplement Fastin can cause cardiovascular events.
In an Oct. 9 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, Linda Cagle claims that Fastin contained dimethylamylamine (DMAA), a synthetic ingredient which is known to narrow blood vessels and arteries, leading to cardiovascular events ranging from shortness of breath to heart attack.
