Dallas Jury Awards Plaintiff $73.4 Million in Boston Scientific Obtryx Mesh Case

DALLAS — A Texas state court jury has awarded a couple $73.465 million in a transvaginal mesh case against Boston Scientific, finding its Obtryx Transobturator Mid-Urethral Sling System was defective, negligently marketed, and proximately caused the plaintiffs’ injuries.

On Sept. 8, the 12-member jury sitting in the Dallas County District Court awarded Martha Salazar $50 million in punitive damages, plus $1.5 million for physical pain and mental anguish, $10 million for future pain and anguish, $750,000 for physical impairment, $5 million for future physical impairment, $3 million in future necessary medical care, and $1.7 million for loss of earning capacity.
