Boston Scientific Prevails in Mass. Obtryx Pelvic Mesh Trial

BOSTON — A Massachusetts jury found in favor of Boston Scientific Corp. in an Obtryx pelvic mesh case, finding the device was neither defective in design nor defective by reason of lack of an adequate warning.
After deliberating for 17 hours, the 14-member jury issued the verdict on Aug. 29, in which it also unanimously determined that Boston Scientific did not negligently fail to warn plaintiff Maria Cardenas and her doctors of the device’s risk of erosion.
Judge Kiane Kottmyer of the Middlesex County Superior Court presided over the trial.
