HONOLULU— A Hawaii man has sued Johnson & Johnson and its DePuy Orthopaedics unit over alleged defects in the tibial component of an artificial knee implant manufactured and sold by the companies.
In a complaint filed July 1 in U.S. District Court for the District of Hawaii, Manual A. Sanchez claims that the Depuy Sigma prosthesis implanted in his knee failed a little more than a year after it was implanted, forcing him to undergo numerous procedures and eventually revision surgery to correct the alleged defect.
