Fla. Federal Judge Allows Marx to Testify as to Connection Between Aredia/Zometa and ONJ

TAMPA, Fla. — Plaintiff’s expert Dr. Robert Marx may testify about a causal connection between osteonecrosis of the jaw and Novartis Pharmaceutical Corp.’s Aredia/Zometa in an upcoming trial, a Florida federal judge has ruled.

On June 27, Judge Steven D. Merryday of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida also admitted Marx’s opinions as to the treatment of ONJ that he attributes to bisphosphonates and the benefit of dental screenings and the avoidance of intrusive dentistry, to the extent relevance is established by a proper factual predicate.
