Texas Jury Awards Rezulin Victim's Family $25 Million; $1.5 Million in Punitive Damages Also Assessed

EDINBURG, Texas - A jury in Hidalgo County, Texas, has awarded $24.96 million to the family of a woman who died after taking Rezulin for three months. Soto v. Warner-Lambert Co., No. C-534-00-B (Texas Dist. Ct., Hidalgo Cty., 93rd Dist).
The jury awarded Beatrice Herrera's family $23.46 million in compensatory damages on Jan. 18, later determining punitive damages of $1.5 million, based on plaintiff's arguments that defendants failed to properly warn consumers about the risks associated with Rezulin.
