Plaintiffs Urge JPML to Consolidate Mirena Levonorgestrel-Release Cases in Tennessee Federal Court

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Plaintiffs have asked the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation to transfer their nine Mirena injury cases to the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee for consolidated pretrial proceedings.
In a May 27 petition, the 10 movants assert that the actions present common factual questions because their claims against Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals Inc. arise from Mirena’s release of levonorgestrel, which allegedly causes increased pressure on the brain caused by the build-up of cerebrospinal fluid.
